CARTER COUNTY VOLUNTARY PRESCHOOL
The Carter County Pre-K Early Childhood Program is designed for children turning four by August 15th . Children must also meet income guidelines for at-risk children as set forth by the TN Department of Education. The goal of the program is to provide preschool age children with a learning environment which will help them develop socially, intellectually, physical, and emotionally in an age appropriate manner. Centers are located at Unaka Elementary, Valley Forge Elementary and Little Milligan Elementary. Daily activities in the preschool classroom emphasize the development of age appropriate skills, including socialization, problem solving, listening and speaking and kindergarten readiness. Students are provided with positive, developmentally appropriate hands on learning experiences.
ENROLLMENT:
Parents interested in enrolling their child in the Carter County Voluntary Preschool Program for the 2023-2024 school year can now begin the process online. Parents applying online will be contacted by the VPK Director regarding required documentation. To be eligible, a child must be 4 years old by August 15, 2023 and meet income eligibility guidelines as set forth by the TN Department of Education. When registering a child, it his helpful to bring the following information: birth certificate, social security card, and immunizations records. Pre-K requires proof of annual income. ( For any family experiencing homeless, migrant/immigrant, and/or an English Learner, you may provide a birth certificate and social security card; however, they are not required to enroll the student.)
