About CCS

Carter County Schools is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Carter County, Tennessee.   Carter County's 348 square miles consists of mountains, the Watauga and Doe Rivers, and beautiful valleys that form the Appalachian landscape.  

 

The Carter County School System contains schools from eight small communities:  Biltmore, Butler, Central, Hampton, Pinecrest, Stoney Creek, Roan Mountain, and Valley Forge.  Our district consists of 16 schools, 4,452 Students, 36 administrators, 420 teachers, and 462 paraprofessionals.
